"The City’s leadership team has used Pacific Educational Group’s training and the Courageous Conversation protocol effectively to launch our racial equity work. Sonia Nieto, Professor Emerita - Language, Literacy, and CultureĬollege of Education, University of Massachusetts, Amherst This work is sorely needed if we are ever to reach educational and social equity in our nation." In this second edition, he takes it one step further, adding racial autobiographies and supplements to make it even more accessible to diverse audiences. "In the first edition of his groundbreaking book, Courageous Conversations, Glenn Singleton made a powerful case that, in order to dismantle racism, it is first necessary to talk about and understand how power and privilege are related to race. Singleton is the best equity practitioner I have worked with-provocative, stimulating, mindful of the sensitivities of this topic, and devoted to fulfilling our racial equity mandate." The racial autobiographies allowed me to deepen my racial consciousness and become a more effective Courageous Conversation practitioner. His curriculum and modes of inquiry promote self-discovery and self-awareness. Glenn Singleton provides strategies and tools to help one examine one′s own racial identity. Us gaap expense recognition8/9/2023 The difference between the two is important to understand. Under the cash method of accounting, revenue is recognized when it is received. The distinction between earned and received is very important. Under the accrual method, the revenue recognition principle requires that revenue is always reported in the period that it is earned, not necessarily when cash is received. Any public organization operating in the US must report under the accrual method of accounting, as defined by US GAAP. How revenue is recognized depends on the overall accounting policy that a business has adopted. How Is Revenue Recognized On Financial Statements? Under the accrual method of accounting, the revenue recognition principle of US GAAP covers how to report various types of revenue, including contracts, services, and other specialized forms of revenue. This is because the principle unifies how businesses across sectors and industries report revenue, enhancing the reliability of financial statements. Revenue recognition principles are one of the foundational principles defined in US GAAP. Under the accrual method of accounting the revenue recognition principle outlines that it should be recorded in the period that it was earned, not received. Under the cash basis of accounting the revenue recognition principle requires that revenue is recognized when cash is received. In general, there are two primary ways of financial reporting – cash basis and accrual basis. The policy itself can vary depending on the overall accounting policy that the business has in place. Revenue recognition is an accounting principle that details how a business should recognize revenue on its books. In this post, we will cover what the revenue recognition principle is, how revenue is recognized on financial statements, as well as the importance of the principle. Like all accounting policies, the aim is to provide an approach to financial reporting that results in clear, relevant, and accurate information. The standardized approach has a variety of benefits, and the principle is relied upon by various stakeholders. As the PIR of the revenue standard progresses, the Board and its staff may identify areas of improvement that could result in future standard setting. The revenue recognition principle under US GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) provides a clear framework for recording revenue across all businesses. The FASB staff will continue to monitor implementation of the revenue standard and provide updates to the Board on any emerging issues identified. The staff further observed that while many preparers noted significant one-time costs associated with implementation of the standard, they also highlighted that the standard has been beneficial in the long run. In the handouts prepared for the Board’s July 2021 and September 2022 meetings, the FASB staff noted that stakeholder feedback on the revenue standard was positive overall, particularly from users of financial statements since the standard results in more useful and transparent information, improved disclosures, and comparability across entities and industries. At its July 28, 2021, and September 21, 2022, meetings, the FASB discussed feedback received to date on the revenue standard as well as the results of research performed on certain revenue topics, including disclosures, short-cycle manufacturing, principal-versus-agent considerations, licensing, and variable consideration. This process enables the Board to solicit and consider stakeholder input and FASB staff research. After the FASB issues a major new accounting standard, it performs a postimplementation review (PIR) process to evaluate whether the standard is achieving its objective by providing users of financial statements with relevant information that justifies the costs of providing it.

Silly putty recipe silicone8/9/2023 Best solution? No…but it made a really cool sand that is moldable, stretchy, and dry to the touch. Artist George Horner’s paintings are produced on an unusual canvas. So what did we do to make our kinetic sand work? We used an older batch of Liquid Starch Slime that was starting to deteriorate and very very slowly mixed in a pinch at a time. No word on whether the animals enjoyed playing with Silly Putty as much as their human counterparts. Add 1-2 tablespoons of dishwashing liquid to the bowl containing the cornstarch. The bowl doesn’t need to be very big as this recipe doesn’t make a whole lot of putty just enough for one child to play with 2. Dry pigments and clay carbonate are added to make color and glitter. For the Silly Putty recipe used here, please visit our web site at. Silly Putty is a mix of silicone polymers (about 70 wt), boric acid, and other chemicals. Silly Putty was discovered in 1943 by James Wright and introduced to the public in 1950 by. So I went on the hunt for a product that used hydroxy-terminated polydimethylsiloxane of low visocity…and yeah no luck finding anything in my area that even came close for a reasonable price… Start by pouring ¼ cup of cornstarch into a bowl. Silly Putty is a polymer made from silicone oil and boric acid. Silly Putty is made primarily from silicone and color pigments. The invention of Nutty Putty, later renamed Silly Putty, happened accidentally. Which technically should work…but, at least for me, this was a MAJOR fail (even with long bake times prior to mixing in attempts to dry out the sand completely). Wright (Ma August 20, 1961) 1 unreliable source was a Scottish-born inventor, researcher and chemical engineer at General Electric who invented Silly Putty in 1943 while looking for a replacement for rubber. Most of the DIY Kinetic Sand recipes I was able to find out in internet land used the PDMS dimethicone which is popular among cosmetics or products such as liquid starch. This is a known main ingredient in silly putty, but so is boric acid, so a part of me is wondering if boric acid is also included in the kinetic sand that is sold. The ingredients listed for Kinetic Sand claim 98% sand, 2% polydimethylsiloxane (aka silicone oil). While this sand had a lot of the same attributes, it missed some of the stringiness that kinetic sand has. The more water in the mix the less similar it will be. I have a couple more ideas on what to give a go…so we shall see how those go. This recipe was definitely a process of trial and error for me. This recipe for DIY Kinetic Sand is very similar to what is available for sale, but it is not quite exactly the same. And when it comes to sensory play materials we spend through them like no tomorrow so having an affordable solution is a must. My kiddos are absolutely in love with Kinetic Sand however, the stuff isn’t cheap. The goal of this experiment is to synthesize bouncing putty, a cross-linked silicone polymer, and study its unique properties.

Intel ces 2021 keynote8/9/2023 Bob noted that this time around, the company is keenly focused on highly scalable GPU architectures that are derived from its integrated mobile platform. There was a lot to unpack here for Intel, as you can see, but I did also take the opportunity to ask for a quick update on the company’s discrete graphics efforts. Swan Intel CorporationĪs a sort of wrap-up here, I’ll share some insight offered by Intel CEO, Bob Swan, as I was fortunate enough to join him on a call last week, in the lead-up to the company’s various announcements today. These solutions will bring with them Thunderbolt connectivity for the first time in a Chromebook product. Intel will also be amping-up Chromebook performance with its 11 th Gen Core processor technology later in Q1 this year, based on Tiger Lake, including the introduction of an Intel Evo platform-based Chromebook offering. Intel didn’t provide exact availability dates for these vPro-enabled 11 th Gen products, other than to note that over 60 new laptop designs will arrive in market this year. Dell’s recently announced Latitude 9420 is an Intel Evo vPro design that will incorporate this technology, sometime this Spring when it launches at retail. Some machines may also include Intel Visual Sensing technology that will allow the machine to detect user presence and interaction, waking the display automatically. Intel has also rolled out an Evo vPro platform, which will bring a similar designed and verified product offering in conjunction with laptop ecosystem OEM partners, targeting similar premium experiences and build quality, along with meeting critical metrics for instant wake and battery life performance. Of course, central to the new Intel vPro offering are features like advancement remote management technologies that are critical to IT departments, as well as a new version of Intel Hardware Shield that the company claims delivers the “industry’s first silicon-enabled AI threat detection against ransomware and crypto-mining attacks.” In conference with Intel, I asked what silicon engines powered this feature and it was reported that existing CPU and GPU resources, along with Intel DL (Deep Learning) Boost neural network instructions, will accelerate these workloads. New Intel 11th Gen vPro Processor Platform Security Benefits Intel The processor will also be backwards compatible with 400 Series chipset motherboards, though Intel is highlighting new 500 Series chipset motherboards with integrated USB 3.2 Gen 2x2 connectivity for 20Gbps external device throughput. The new octal-core Core i9-11900K will Turbo up to 5.3GHz with a snappy all-core boost clock of 4.8GHz, and Intel claims it will deliver up to a 19% IPC lift over the company’s 10 th Gen Comet Lake-S CPUs, along with up to 50% higher integrated graphics performance and 20 PCIe 4.0 lanes direct off the CPU root, for Gen4 SSD and discrete PCIe 4 GPU support. It’s a smart move, until the company can finally migrate higher-end desktop architectures to its 10nm SuperFin fab process later this year. Rocket Lake-S is actually a 14nm back-port of Intel’s 10nm Ice Lake core architecture (Sunny Cove), combined with Tiger Lake’s Xe-LP graphics, and it’s code-named Cypress Cove. On the desktop side of the house, Intel demonstrated 11 th Gen Core S-series desktop processor technology, codenamed Rocket Lake-S. Intel Rocket Lake-S 11th Gen Core i9-11900K 8-Core Desktop Processor Intel So let’s break down what the company has unveiled for CES 2021, starting with the introductions I’d expect to make the biggest impact in the market. “Only Intel has the breadth of products spanning multiple architectures, our large, open ecosystem, the sheer scale of manufacturing footprint, and the deep technical expertise our customers need to unlock opportunities in this era of distributed intelligence,” said Intel Executive Vice President Gregory Bryant at Intel’s “Do More” keynote showcase today, with a number of Intel execs. With several new CPU platforms that span business, education, mobile, gaming and the data center, the company is laying claim to hundreds of new PC design wins that are on the way, starting in Q1 2021. The 2021 Consumer Electronics Show (CES) kicked off today and Intel is out in front, hitting the ground running with major new processor technology announcements across virtually all the core markets it serves. I couldnt wait to go back home once I was there. The bed was hard and both the pillows and blankets were napkin thin and smelled strange. The ac was fixed so you couldnt use it to your liking and the window mesh was just a huge gaping hole. You have to beg for ONE extra towel and they wake you up every morning and force themselves in to 'clean' (just check the bathroom) every morning at random times. There was no peace or tranquility due to motors screeching and clanging all day. The staff literally sleeps in the window and the whole place was under construction. A Belizean restaurant is located on site. I only stayed here because I needed a hotel last min and this was the cheapest. Relax Inn 1269 South La Brea Avenue, Los Angeles, CA 90019, United States of America Good location show map Good 186 reviews Free WiFi 9.7 +30 photos Located within 3.7 mi of the Hollywood Walk of Fame and the Hollywood Bowl, this Los Angeles motel offers rooms with free Wi-Fi. My only complaint was that there was no hot water early in the morning. The motel is about a mile from I-10, and fast surface streets let you bypass I-10 to downtown. There's a McDonald's a 2-minute walk away, and a Belize (the country) restaurant on the property that I didn't try. There are lots of major stores in the area: a big Target across the street, CVS and Ralph's supermarket in a shopping center a couple of minutes away, and many more. The three people I saw on staff were friendly and helpful. Having the front door always open to the street (with security at night) helped the relaxed feel: It told me that the area was safe and there weren't people hanging out nearby. My second-floor room had a window that opened using the bathroom exhaust fan (which pulled a lot of air from the window) made it easy to freshen up the room. Unlike some budget motels, my very big room had furniture that matched, fairly large fridge and TV, several mirrors, clean carpet without holes, a comfortable king bed, and quiet (though maybe that's because it was mid-October and not busy).
